Most of what looks like permanent staining is organic growth: algae, moss and mildew. It comes off. The right method just depends on the surface.

House Soft Washing

Low-pressure cleaning that lifts algae, mildew and dirt off siding without forcing water behind it.

High pressure can drive water behind siding and etch the surface. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution that treats the algae and mildew at the root, so the finish stays clean longer.

We soft wash houses in every town on our service area list, from Riverhead out to Montauk.

Roof Soft Washing

The black streaks on a roof are algae, not dirt. Soft washing treats them without walking or scouring the shingles.

Those dark streaks are a hardy roof algae. Pressure-blasting or walking a roof to clean it shortens its life. A soft-wash solution clears the growth without either.

Driveways, Walkways & Concrete

Surface cleaning that takes concrete and stone back to an even colour instead of leaving wand stripes.

A flat-surface cleaner holds an even distance across the whole slab, which is what avoids the zebra-stripe marks a hand wand leaves behind.

Patios & Pavers

Deep cleaning between the joints, with polymeric re-sanding after to lock the pavers back down.

Over time the sand in paver joints washes out and weeds move in. We clean the surface, then re-sand and lock the joints so the patio sheds water instead of holding it.

Decks & Fences

Weathered grey timber cleaned back to the colour of the wood underneath, the biggest single change on most properties.

Grey, weathered wood usually isn't worn out. It's a thin layer of oxidation and mildew over sound timber. Cleaned properly, the colour underneath comes back and the wood is ready to seal.

Weathered timber is the change people notice first, and it is the job the two of us started A² Power Washing to do.

Gutters

Cleaned out inside, and brightened outside to remove the tiger-striping that washing the house alone leaves behind.

Washing a house but skipping the gutters leaves black tiger-stripes down their faces. We clear the inside and brighten the outside so the whole exterior matches.

Worth pairing with house soft washing, since washing the siding alone is what leaves the stripes behind.
